It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of husband, father, friend, and Master Mechanic founder Don Ballard, who managed our family owned and operated vehicle repair facility for many years. Don fought a courageous battle but, sadly, succumbed to pancreatic cancer on November 17, 2017. The Ballard family would like to thank everyone who joined Don in this fight and all those who hoped and prayed for his recovery.

Master Mechanic will continue to operate as the same family owned and operated neighborhood business, providing you the continuity of high quality vehicle care to which you have become accustomed. If you have any questions or comments, you can contact me at: b.ballard @ Master-Mechanic.com, or Shop Manager Leonard Lemelson at: leonard @ Master-Mechanic.com.

We would like to thank you all for your continued support and patronage.

More Brakes for Breasts in the News

Master Mechanic and it’s Brakes for Breasts Fundraiser was featured in the Chantilly Patch.

During the month of October,Master Mechanic in Chantilly will be giving free brake pads to each customer as part of the ‘Brakes for Breasts’ program.

Master Mechanic will donate 10 percent of October’s labor costs toCleveland Clinic’s breast cancer vaccine research. For those customers who don’t need brakes but still want to help out, the shop will offer $25 off any regularly priced service as well as donating 5% of those labor costs to the research fund.

Recently, a team of Cleveland Clinic researchers led by Vincent Tuohy, PhD, have lab-tested what could become the first-ever vaccine to prevent breast cancer.

Master Mechanic owner Don Ballard lost his mother to breast cancer at a young age.

“Many of our customers know someone who’s been affected by breast cancer so we want to do our part and make it easy for others to donate as well,” Master Mechanic spokesperson Chelsea Johnson said in an email to Patch.

Master Mechanic is joining 61 other auto shops across 26 states, as the only Northern Virginia auto repair shop to help raise money for breast cancer vaccine research at the Cleveland Clinic. Last year, the combined efforts of less than 30 shops raised over $30,000; this year, the organization hopes to exceed $60,000.

Master Mechanic is located at 14303-A Sullyfield Circle in Chantilly. For more information about the Brakes for Breasts promotion, visit brakesforbreasts.com.
